Figurative Language Found in Poetry

The students have been learning that poets sometimes include figurative language in their poems. Some of the figurative language includes onomatopoeia, personification, similes, and alliteration. Check out the wonderful examples of alliteration, personification, and similes the students created! 

Alliteration Examples:



Personification Examples: 

It was the cloud giving me a bath! - Jay and Jonathan 

The stop sign said, "Stop!" Eli and Bailey

The Giraffe waved goodbye. - Kayana and Jacob

Simile Examples:

Mindcraft is like a world of blocks. - Adam and Allen James

My sister is as beautiful as a flower. - Eli and Calleigh

My mailbox is as stinky as a sock! - Tyler and Kinsley 

Oakland Elementary kids are as smart as a bookworm. - Ryan and Bailey

My mom is like a butterfly. - Hallie and Judy
