Observing Different Types of Soil

Today, the students kicked off their rock and soil unit by observing different types of soil. They used their four senses (not taste) to observe clay, sand, dirt, and topsoil. At the end of the observations, they decided that topsoil would be the best soil for plants to grow in. Tomorrow we will experiment to see which soil absorbs the most water.
